John Kenderdine, Dylan Walker and Mike Walker present apparrel to Plumstead Explorers Cadet Tanner Wood.
Plumstead Twp. PA (December, 2021)
The Billy Walker Jr. Foundation continued their support of the Plumstead Police Explorers Post 5708 providing new casual uniform attire for cadets and advisors. Post 5708 members participated in a drive-by pickup in December where they received new polo shirts and hats to wear for post activities during warmer weather.
The Billy Walker Jr. Foundation has been supporting the Plumstead Police Explorers since 2014 providing grants to the organization for uniforms, equipment and events as well as providing tuition grants to cadets seeking careers as first responders. “Our ability to bring the cadets together as a group has been limited this year by COVID-19 and Mike Walker from The Billy Walker Jr Foundation had an idea to distribute gifts to our members just in time for the holidays” stated Officer Tom Rutecki.
The Plumstead Township Police Department Explorer’s Post 5708 was established on November 3, 2013. Explorer Post 5708 uses the badge number of Joseph E. Hanusey, a Plumstead police officer who was killed in a car accident as he was en route to backing up another officer in 2002. The Law Enforcement Explorers program is designed to help young adults of the Central Bucks Communities to make a more informed decision about future careers and determine if a particular career is right for them.
The Billy Walker, Jr. Foundation is dedicated to helping others reach their dreams of becoming a first responder. This non-profit organization was established in memory of the late Billy J. Walker, Jr., who loved serving his community as both an EMT and volunteer firefighter. The family and friends of Billy created the foundation in his name to continue Billy’s legacy of helping others.
